Geno Auriemma has redefined the meaning of success in college basketball
in his 22 years as head coach of the University of Connecticut.
During his illustrious tenure, Auriemma has transformed the UConn
program into the standard that all others are measured, both on and off
the court.
On the court, his success includes five national championships and
complete dominance in the BIG EAST Conference. Off the court, success
means a flawless graduation rate and one of the most beloved sports
teams in the country.
Off the court Coach Auriemma and his wife are tireless in their pursuit
to find a cure for cancer. Most recently, they have decided to join the
V Foundation team - where 100% of donated dollars go to cancer research.
Coach and Kathy have orchestrated a youth initiative that incorporates
any aspect of the word "team" you can imagine in their personal endeavor
to raise money for the V Foundation - Geno's Cancer Team. Coach
Auriemma is currently the Vice President of the WBCA. The WBCA has also
joined the V Foundation team in their women's health initiative, the Kay
Yow Fund. Coach is as tenacious in his fund raising efforts as he is
about winning games; and expects to beat cancer as well!
Join the Team, Geno’s Cancer Team, on the Road to the Final Cure!
